Xiaomi targets 550,000 vehicle deliveries in 2026

Brand remains on course to become the fastest manufacturer to hit one million EV sales.

Chinese technology giant Xiaomi has set an ambitious target to deliver 550,000 vehicles in 2026, representing a 34% increase from the over 410,000 units expected for 2025.

The company significantly exceeded its original 2025 target of 350,000 deliveries, achieving this milestone ahead of schedule in early December.

Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun announced the 2026 target during a live stream on Saturday, as the company prepares to expand its electric vehicle (EV) lineup with four new models, with the aggressive growth plan underscoring Xiaomi’s rapid emergence as a major player in China’s competitive EV market despite entering the automotive industry less than four years ago.

The company’s strong 2025 performance culminated in record December deliveries of over 50,000 vehicles, and though Xiaomi has not disclosed the exact figure, the precise December delivery numbers are expected to be available later this month in the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) report. This strong finish helped push total 2025 deliveries well beyond the company’s initial projections.

Financial milestone achieved

Xiaomi’s EV division reached a significant financial milestone in the third quarter of 2025, achieving its first quarterly profit when deliveries reached 108,796 units.

The profitability achievement, announced in financial results released on November 18, demonstrates the company’s ability to scale operations efficiently in the highly competitive Chinese EV market.

The rapid path to profitability is particularly notable given that Xiaomi formally announced its entry into the automotive industry on March 30, 2021.

Though considered a relatively late entrant among Chinese EV startups, the company has become one of the fastest-growing players in the sector.

Current lineup and expansion plans

Xiaomi’s current vehicle portfolio consists of the SU7 saloon and the YU7 SUV, positioned as rivals to the Tesla Model 3 and Y respectively.

These models have gained traction in the Chinese market as the company leverages its technology expertise and brand recognition.

According to a December 30 report from local media outlet 36Kr, Xiaomi EV’s preliminary 2026 plan involves launching four new models to significantly expand its product range, with new models expected to include two extended range (EREV) SUVs, a facelift of the SU7, and a more business-focused version of the SU7.

The SU7 facelift has been confirmed for launch in April, while the extended-range seven-seater SUV is also expected to be released in the first half of 2026, with the other models expected later in the year.

The introduction of extended-range vehicles marks a strategic shift for Xiaomi, which has previously focused on pure electric models. Extended-range EVs use a small petrol engine to charge the battery when needed, addressing range anxiety concerns that remain prevalent among some consumers.

Xiaomi’s aggressive growth trajectory and expansion into hybrid technology reflects the broader evolution of China’s EV market, where established technology companies are increasingly challenging traditional automotive manufacturers through innovative approaches to vehicle development and manufacturing.
