Spy Shots Reveal Updated Voyah Passion L with Huawei ADAS

Updated and more luxurious version of the flagship gets Rolls-Royce-style chrome grille and is being benchmarked against a Cullinan.

New spy shots of the Voyah Passion L have emerged, showing significant updates to Dongfeng’s premium electric sedan ahead of its expected launch later this year.

The facelifted model will feature Huawei’s latest ADAS technology, including LiDAR-assisted autonomous driving, and adopt an updated electric architecture for improved efficiency.

Exterior changes include a redesigned illuminated chrome grille, split headlights, and a roof-mounted LiDAR unit, while powertrain options will mirror the current plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery-electric (BEV) variants.

The Passion L, as Voyah’s flagship saloon, looks poised to take on the NIO ET7 and upcoming premium saloons from Li Auto.

The spy shots reveal a more assertive front fascia, one that retains the perceived grandeur of a distinctive grille, along with split headlamps reminiscent of those on the BMW 7-Series and i7.

The roof-mounted lidar suggests the passion will come equipped with Huawei’s ADS 3.0 system as standard, like it is on the Voyah Dreamer and recently released Voyah FREE+.

Elsewhere, the Passion gets large multi-spoke alloys and what appears to be a two-tone silver-over-black paint job to add to the luxury perception, while it retains the current model’s fastback style roofline which culminates in a saloon-style boot with an active spoiler on top.

Rear styling appears largely unchanged, maintaining the full-width LED light bar and sculpted bumper.

The Passion L is expected to retain the current lineup’s PHEV and BEV options but with technical refinements, possibly including an upgrade to an 800-volt platform on the EV version.

The PHEV variant currently pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with electric motors for 390kW (523 hp) combined output and a 262km CLTC electric-only range.

The BEV version delivers 375kW (503 hp), with two battery options of 82kWh and 109kWh offering 580km or 730km CLTC ranges.

The new three-electric architecture (battery, motor, and electronic controls) is expected to improve energy density and charging speeds, though Voyah has yet to confirm specifications.

Pictures smuggled from what looks like a Voyah design centre reveal both the updated Passion L and a previously unseen large SUV that looks set to join the Voyah line-up as a new flagship SUV above the Courage and Free+.

Both seem to be being benchmarked to a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, with the new SUV taking on a somewhat more boxy adjunct front-end, though the camouflage is likely accentuating it.

It, too, features a lidar unit above the windscreen, suggesting it will also get Huawei’s ADS 3.0 system, as well as large multi-spoke alloys similar to those spotted on the Passion prototype.

It looks set to compete with the Zeekr 8X and AITO M8 when it goes on sale, with a potential reveal at the Chengdu Auto Show but more likely towards the end of the year.
