Yangwang’s new Altior has a longer wheelbase than both the Maextro S800 and the Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended, though BYD has yet to publish the power and battery figures needed for a full comparison.
BYD’s Yangwang brand revealed the Altior in Abu Dhabi on 7 November. Chinese coverage of the launch has pitched the limousine against the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, and its closest domestic rival, the Huawei-backed Maextro S800 built by JAC.
Here is how the Altior compares with the S800 and the Ghost Series II on the figures published so far.

Size
The Altior is 5,600mm long, 2,030mm wide and 1,590mm tall, on a 3,500mm wheelbase.
The Maextro S800 is 5,480mm long, 2,000mm wide and 1,536mm tall, with a 3,370mm wheelbase.
The Ghost is 5,545mm long on a 3,295mm wheelbase, and the Ghost Extended adds 170mm to both, taking it to 5,715mm long on a 3,465mm wheelbase.
That gives the Altior the longest wheelbase of the three, 130mm more than the S800 and 35mm more than the Ghost Extended, although the Ghost Extended is 115mm longer overall.

Powertrains
The Altior is fully electric, with four motors on BYD’s e4 platform driving each wheel independently. It uses BYD’s second-generation Blade battery on a 1,000V platform, and Yangwang claims a CLTC range of more than 1,000km. Power output and battery capacity have not been published, though it could likely match the U8’s 220kW on each wheel and 880kW in total. The battery is likely to exceed 120kWh in size.
The standard S800 is an extended-range EV. Following its 2026 update, the dual-motor version pairs a 160kW front motor with a 230kW rear motor for 390kW, and the tri-motor version adds a second 237.5kW rear motor for 635kW. A 63.3kWh battery is backed by a petrol generator, giving a combined range of up to 1,200km. The four-seat S800 Grand Design is also offered as a pure EV, with a 120kWh battery and 780km of CLTC range.
The Ghost uses a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 with all-wheel drive, producing 420kW in standard form and 441kW as the Black Badge.

Price
Pre-orders for the limited-edition Altior are open at RMB 2.08 million (approx. US$306,000), with deliveries due in the second quarter of 2027. Pricing for the Executive edition has not been announced.
The S800 costs RMB 708,000 to RMB 1,018,000 (approx. US$104,100 to US$149,700), and the Grand Design starts at RMB 1.388 million (approx. US$204,100). That puts the limited-edition Altior at about 1.5 times the price of the S800 Grand Design.
Rolls-Royce does not publish pricing for the Ghost in China but reports suggest between RMB 4,700,000 and RMB 5,700,000.
