AVATR reveals 06T estate with advanced Huawei lidar

New model will take on the Zeekr 007GT and NIO ET5T in increasingly popular mid-size estate segment.

AVATR has revealed official images of the 06T, the brand’s first estate variant based on its existing 06 sedan, featuring Huawei’s new generation LiDAR technology for advanced driving assistance functions.

The 06T is expected to be offered with both fully electric (BEV) and extended range (EREV) variants, mirroring the powertrain options available in the saloon version.

The new estate will compete directly with established estates or shooting brakes in the mid-size segment such as the Zeekr 007GT and NIO ET5T, as well as future rivals like the Exeed ES7 GT shown at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

With the AVATR 06 saloon ranging from RMB 209,900 (£22,250 / $30,250) to RMB 279,900 (£29,600 / $40,300), available across six trim levels, expect the 06T to start from around RMB 229,900 and rise to around RMB 300,000.

Design

Design details show the 06T adopts the same front-end styling as the saloon, with split daytime running lights, an aerodynamic nose, and chiselled styling throughout, and features semi-concealed door handles that look to fit China’s new door handle requirements.

Additional features include a roof-mounted LiDAR unit, cameras for mirrors, which will likely be optional, and a lower grille that opens and closes for cooling and aero.

The standard 06 features 20-inch alloys as standard, so we can expect the same here, while the 06T gains a rear window as part of the rear hatch, which the 06 famously did without.

A full-width light bar spans the rear of the car, along with a subtle spoiler and meaty diffuser, and the official images feature a roof box to highlight the model’s lifestyle aspirations.

Expect the model to be around the 5-metre mark in length, adding around 15-20cm on the 06 saloon, with the additional space opening up a far more practical rear storage area.

Powertrain

Powertrain specifications have not been announced, but the 06T will likely share the saloon’s drivetrain options, with the rear-wheel drive BEV variant offering a 252kW electric motor and 72.88kWh LFP battery pack for 650km CLTC range, plus an all-wheel drive version adding a 188kW front motor for 600km range.

EREV variants feature a 231kW rear motor paired with either 31.7kWh or 45.06kWh CATL Freevoy LFP battery packs, delivering comprehensive ranges of 1190km or 1250km respectively, with pure electric ranges of 230km or 330km, and these should also make it to the 06T.

The 06T is also expected to incorporate Huawei’s latest Qiankun ADS autonomous driving system and HarmonyOS 5.0 cockpit technology, positioning it as a technology-forward option in the premium estate segment.

The timing of the 06T’s market launch has not been confirmed, though the release of official images suggests AVATR is preparing for a formal debut in the coming months as Chinese manufacturers continue expanding their model ranges to capture broader market segments.
