Changan’s electric brand showcases dual-screen cabin layout and premium materials as it prepares BYD Yuan Plus rival for market debut.

Qiyuan has revealed the interior of its upcoming Q05 compact electric SUV, revealing a modern if uninspiring layout and premium cabin materials as the brand prepares to challenge the BYD Yuan Plus in the compact electric SUV segment.
The fully electric compact SUV measures 4,435mm long and features a 120kW motor along with lidar technology for autonomous driving capability, representing a significant upgrade from the outgoing hybrid Q05 model.
Pricing is expected to start below RMB100,000 (£10,350 / $13,000) when the model launches later this year, potentially undercutting key rivals in the competitive compact electric SUV market.
The Q05 forms part of Qiyuan’s rapid expansion following the success of the larger Q07 SUV, with international sales planned through Changan’s growing global network.

The Q05’s cabin adopts a clean, minimalist approach centred around a dual-screen configuration that includes a large central touchscreen for infotainment functions and a separate digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, but there’s no sign of a head-up display like on the BYD Yuan Up.
What appear to be soft-touch materials cover the dashboard and door panels, while ambient lighting runs throughout the cabin to create a premium atmosphere despite the model’s affordable positioning.
There’s a wireless charging pad and a phone storage space on the centre console and a handful of physical controls, though it’s unclear what they’re for in these images.
The interior layout prioritises space efficiency, with Qiyuan claiming generous head and legroom for occupants despite the compact 2,735mm wheelbase.

There appears to be a princess seat in the front with a legrest, and this seat looks to potentially have a zero-gravity function but this appears doubtful.
Rear passengers benefit from dedicated air vents and a USB charging point, as well as an armrest with twin cupholders.

Power, as revealed in recent MIIT filings, comes from a single 120kW electric motor, likely mounted on the front axle following the configuration used in the larger Q07 model.
Battery options are expected to 40.3kWh, good for 405km of CLTC range, and 51.9kWh, for as many as 506km of range.
The compact SUV measures 4,435mm long, 1,855mm wide, and either 1,595mm or 1,600mm tall depending on specification, with a wheelbase of 2,735mm, and wheel options of 17-inch or 18-inch alloys, positioning the Q05 against other mainstream rivals like the BYD Yuan Plus.

Qiyuan will position the Q05 as an affordable alternative to premium compact electric SUVs, with expected pricing starting below the psychologically important RMB100,000 (£10,350 / $13,000) threshold.
This would undercut the larger Q07’s remarkable RMB129,800 (£13,400 / $18,000) starting price while targeting buyers seeking electric mobility without premium price tags.
The pricing strategy directly challenges the BYD Atto 3 and positions the Q05 as one of the most affordable lidar-equipped electric SUVs available.
The model’s lidar unit, visible above the windscreen, enables autonomous driving features typically reserved for more expensive vehicles, a feature that will help differentiate the Q05 from budget competitors while supporting Qiyuan’s positioning as an affordable brand offering premium features.
With no official reveal at either the Chengdu or IAA motor shows, the Q05 could be officially unveiled at another brand-specific event in the near future, while international sales will use the NEVO branding as Changan continues expanding its global footprint.
