Jetour Zongheng G700 Can Wade For 40 Minutes Up To 97cm

Pre-sales for first product in Jetour’s new flagship sub-brand opened at the Chengdu Auto Show.

Jetour, a brand under the Chery umbrella, has officially opened pre-sales for the new Zongheng G700 plug-in hybrid off-road SUV at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show.

The G700 boasts Chery’s super hybrid off-road system (CDM-O) and produces 560kW of power, and can now be secured with a deposit of RMB 700 (£72 / $98), though there are no indications of an actual price.

One of the standout features of the G700 is its claimed ability to wade through water of up to 970mm in depth for up to 40 minutes while maintaining a water-resistant cabin.

Zongheng is a new range of high-end off-roaders under the Jetour brand that is expected to include a car that can swim to rival the Yangwang U8.

The G700 adopts a classic, boxy silhouette characteristic of serious off-road vehicles, and in this case rather similar to the Fangchengbao Bao 5, particularly in side profile.

It features an externally mounted rear spare tyre on a side-hinged tailgate, a robust roof rack, heavy plastic cladding, and large tow hooks at the front and rear for aiding in off-road rescue scenarios, as well as customisable LED taillights.

In person, it’s a particularly large and tall SUV and the numbers back it up with a length of 5,198mm, width of 2,050mm, height of 1,956mm, and a wheelbase of 2,870mm.

With a maximum ground clearance of 320mm it’s well-equipped to handle off-road scenarios and, according to Jetour, can wade to a depth of 970mm for 40 minutes at up to 4.5 knots and not have any water penetrate the cabin.

An all-terrain mode and low-speed four-wheel-drive system give further weight to its abilities, but being a plug-in hybrid using dual motors, there’s no physical differential lock.

Inside, the cabin blends rugged styling with modern technology, with a blend of soft-touch materials, chunky grab handles, and lashings of metallic-looking elements throughout.

The most eye-catching element of the interior is a 35.4-inch panoramic display that runs along the back of the dashboard, similar to that used in AVATR’s latest models, which, together with a 15.6-inch central screen and a 17.3-inch roof-mounted screen in the rear, provide the infotainment for passengers.

Pleasingly for some there’s a bunch of physical switchgear on the centre console, as well as a 50W ventilated wireless phone charger, large cupholders, and heated, ventilated, and massaging seats front and rear.

Attractive ambient lighting in the doors, a comprehensive sound system, and an in-vehicle heating and refrigerating drawer that can cool to -6C and heat to 50C complete the main interior features announced so far.

Power is delivered by Chery’s Kunpeng super-performance electric hybrid CDM-O system, which comprises a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 155kW (208 hp) and 340 Nm of torque, together with a pair of electric motors for a combined system output of 560kW (751 hp) and 795Nm of torque.

Power is channeled through a 2-speed DHT transmission, and is enough to give the G700 a 0-100 kph acceleration time of 4.6 seconds and a remarkably low claimed fuel consumption of 1.39 litres per 100 km.

The CATL-supplied 4C Shenxing battery supports a comprehensive range of 1,400 km and can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 10 minutes using a fast charger.

The G700 comes equipped with Chery’s Falcon 500 advanced driving assistance system which enables high-speed Navigate on Pilot (NOA) and parking assist capabilities, aiming to reduce driver workload in various scenarios.

The official launch of the G700 will take place later in the year.
