Exeed E05 Revealed in Official Images

Mid-size SUV will likely head to international markets under Exlantix brand.

Chery brand Exeed has released official pictures of its upcoming E05 mid-size SUV ahead of an expected launch at September’s Munich Auto Show.

The new model, which has was exposed in July’s MIIT filings, is expected to be sold in international markets, almost certainly under the Exlantix brand but potentially as a Jaecoo in some markets given Chery’s often confusing approach to model rebadging.

The images show a car that will be electrified, certainly as an EREV but potentially as a BEV as well, and potentially with battery swapping like the Exeed Sterra ES and ET that are expected to debut the technology later this year.

It’s also been confirmed that the model will be the first to implement Horizon Robotics’ HSD system and the Journey 6P chip.

Styling-wise, the E05 looks like a more chiseled version of the previous generation Porsche Macan, with defined shoulders, deep scalloping at the base of the doors, and a generally muscular stance.

The upper light unit features a distinctive three-line daytime running light in a triangular setting, with the main headlamps embedded in the bumper either side of a softly protruding nose and a split-level trapezoidal lower grille.

Distinctive five-spoke alloys have a deep convex effect which, combined with an uncharacteristically wide offset for a Chery, give the car a wide and confident statue, with 18-, 19-, and 20-inch variants available.

At the rear, full-width twin-line daytime running lights feature as part of a generally rounded and smooth design, with a chunky spoiler giving a more dynamic look.

The MIIT filings revealed that the E05 will measure 4,780mm long, 1,890mm wide, 1,725mm tall, and have a wheelbase of 2,800mm, pitching it against models like the Zeekr 7X and the AVATR 07.

It will feature an extended range electric drivetrain with a 1.5-litre range extender engine, mated most likely, judging by the fuel consumption figures, to dual electric motors.

Those fuel consumption figures are 5.8-litres per 100km on the WLTP cycle, which sits between the higher and lower ends of the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P variants, while a 32.659kWh LFP battery offers an electric-only range of 165km on the WLTP cycle.

The ADAS system, powered by Horizon Robotics Journey 6P chip with 560 TOPS of processing power, will support a version of Chery’s Falcon ADAS system which offers three-levels of support.
