New Models from Li Auto and NIO revealed in June’s MIIT Filings

Models from Wuling, Arcfox, Fangchengbao, BYD, Jetour, Lynk & Co, and Livan also unveiled.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released its July filing, revealing new models, from urban runabouts to large SUVs, from Wuling to NIO, and below we’ll bring them all to you with the information we have.

Wuling Starlight 730

Wuling’s first car in the June MIIT filings resurrects an old name from sister brand Baojun, 730, and brings it somewhat into the 21st century (admittedly the Baojun did exist in the 21st century).

The Starlight 730 is a boxy MPV that goes against Wuling’s general modern, rather soft design language, opting instead for a rather traditional, slab-sided look that borrows much of the same aura as Wuling MPVs of old, but notably adds a variety of powertrains, with ICE, PHEV, and full EV versions available according to the filings.

We can see examples of this on the images, with the closed front grille for use on the EV version, and the Lexus-esque black bowtie grille for use on the ICE and PHEV models.

Importantly, it comes with a silver badge too, meaning it will be a global model for Wuling.

Twin horizontal daytime running lights, small-ish 17-inch alloys, and an upward kink after the C-pillar all feature, and notably there doesn’t seem to be a panoramic roof or sunroof, at least on these images, suggesting it’ll be a true budget people-mover.

At the rear, the Starlight 730 features separate light units, a large bootlid with a small integrated spoiler, and a visible rear wiper.

In the options list, we see blacked out windows from the second-row backwards, as well as two wheel designs, one of which looks more aero-focused.

The filing information claims a length of 4,910mm, a width of 1,850mm, height of 1,770mm, and a wheelbase of 2,910mm.

The EV version comes in two different weights, both under 2.5-tonnes, suggesting there will be two battery choices available.

We can also see that it will be a 7-seater, though it’s not clear which formation will be deployed.

The PHEV comes with a 1.5-litre engine producing 78kW, but there’s no information on the size of the electric motor.

The full EV comes with a 100kW motor, so we’re not expecting any huge performance from the 730, and there’s no information on battery size just yet.

Wuling Bingo S

The Wuling Bingo S, not to be mistaken for the Wuling Bingo or Bingo SUV, is a new SUV that’s larger than both of those models, seemingly aimed at the Geely Xingyuan, China’s best-selling EV of 2025 so far.

Featuring a more mature version of Wuling’s most recent design language, the Bingo S gets a cute yet edgy design, a shark-fin C-pillar, the choice of a body-coloured or black roof, and taillights that look similar to those on a BYD Dolphin.

The filing states that the Bingo S is 4,265mm long, 1,785mm wide, 1,600mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 2,610mm, making it larger than the Xingyuan in every dimension, and actually very close to a VW Golf.

It’ll be fully electric, and feature the same 75kW motor as the Bingo SUV, most likely on the front axle.

There’s no information on battery sizes but it’s expected to get similar options to the Bingo SUV, so likely a 31.9kWh battery giving around 330km of range, a 37.9kWh battery giving around 401km of range, and a 50.6kWh battery achieving around 501km of range.

It gets a total mass of 1,755kg, and comes with 16-inch wheels.

NIO ES8

After comprehensive refreshes to the ET5/ET5T, and ES6, NIO has now taken a knife to their ES8 flagship SUV, this time introducing their third-generation model which brings the styling in-line with the more blunt, upright look of those new models.

The ES8, in response to many of its rivals like the Denza N9, Li Auto L9, and Lynk & Co 900, has grown significantly, the new model now 18.1cm longer, at 5,280mm, 2.1cm wider at 2,010mm, 5cm taller at 1,800mm, and with a wheelbase 6cm longer at 3,130mm.

It is, like all NIOs, fully electric, and comes with dual motors, producing 180kW on the front axle and 340kW on the rear axle, for 520kW in total, or just under 700hp.

Like the ET9 flagship saloon, the ES8 gets more lidar units, two new ones on either side to add to the one above the windscreen, giving greater visibility all around in line with NIO’s World Model ADAS system.

It sits on NIO’s new NT3 platform, which is 925-volt and supports 600kW peak charging power for its swappable NMC batteries of 75kWh, 100kWh, and semi-solid state 150kWh. It could, however, feature the same batteries as those in the ET9 saloon.

NIO were quick to release some official pictures of the ES8 shortly after the filings came out, but what we see in the filings are four different wheel styles, of 20-, 21-, and 22-inch dimensions. It’ll come in either 6- or 7-seat variants.

Li Auto i6

Li Auto, like NIO before them, chose to release official images of their upcoming i6 electric SUV, a smaller model to sit under the upcoming i8 in their line-up.

Measuring 4,950mm long, 1,935mm wide, 1,935mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 3,000mm, the i6 looks every bit the Minime of the i8, somewhat revolutionising the traditional shape of an SUV and streamlining it to the extreme in much the same way the MEGA MPV did.

Two versions will be available, a rear-wheel-drive version with 250kW on the rear axle, and a dual-motor with an additional 150kW on the front for 400kW or 536hp of power.

It will sit on an 800-volt platform, like the MEGA, and boast a 5C LFP battery capable of adding 500km of range in ten minutes.

Wheel sizes will come in 20- and 21-inch variants, and the i6 will be a 5-seater SUV, unlike its larger sibling the i8.

The i6 gets a two-tone design with a black roof, flush door handles for aero, and a lidar unit above the windscreen to support Li Auto’s ADAS system.

Questions remain about how successful the i6 and the i8 will be, given the lukewarm reception to the MEGA, which suffered from social media accusations that it looked like a coffin.

The i6 does look somewhat less awkward, and very much unlike an SUV, but will that be enough to win it customers?

Fangchengbao Tai 7

Fangchengbao, BYD’s offroad brand, looks set to get its fourth model, the brand releasing official images of the incoming Tai 7 after MIIT revealed the look of the new large SUV.

Like their Bao models, the Tai 7 will be a plug-in hybrid, with a 1.5-litre engine producing 115kW of power. It’ll come with both rear and all-wheel drive variants, all with a 200kW motor on the rear axle, and a 160kW motor on the front axle for AWD versions. EV-only range will be as much as 130km.

It sits between the Bao 5 and Bao 8 in size, with a length of 4,999mm, a width of 1,995mm, a height of 1,865mm, and a wheelbase of 2,920mm, making it a two-row five-seater like the Bao 5.

On the face of it, the Tai 7 doesn’t look massively different from the Bao 5, featuring a softer overall aesthetic, a closed front grille, horizontal and square daytime running lights, and a less complex surface treatment on the side, but a completely flat waistline and squared-off rear.

It gets small, more square tail lights, as well as a full-size spare wheel on the side-hinged rear door. It’ll likely come with the option of a tow ball as well for towing.

Approach and departure angles of 24- and 25-degrees respectively, as well as the RWD variant, suggest it might not be quite as hardcore as the Bao 5, given it’s also quite a bit shorter in height than both the Bao 5 and Bao 8.

Wheels will come in either 18-, 19-, or 20-inch variants, and it will almost certainly sit on the DMO (Dual-Mode Offroad) platform, possibly with the DiSus-A air suspension rather than the Disus-P hydraulic suspension that the Bao models get.

BYD Seal 07 Facelift

BYD’s Seal 07 has received a rather early mid-life facelift, getting a front end more in line with the updated Seal 06, with slightly sharper features and a more cohesive front end that removes the aggressive chrome strakes across the front from the previous version.

It retains the same plug-in hybrid drivetrain, and dimensions of 4,995mm in length, 1,900mm in width, 1,495mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,900mm.

Interestingly, it appears to get the God’s Eye B hardware rather than God’s Eye C, with a lidar present atop the windscreen.

Lynk & Co 10 EM-p

The Lynk & Co Z10, previously an electric model, has now gained a plug-in hybrid version using Geely’s performance-focused EM-p hybrid drivetrain, which will be called 10 EM-p.

On the face of it, the appearance is unchanged from the Z10, with the same lithe, streamlined appearance that borrows from The Next Day concept.

At 5,050mm long, it’s a big saloon, and gets a width of 1,966mm, a height of 1,487mm, and a wheelbase of 3,005mm, all the same as the EV Z10.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 120kW of power, as well as as dual motors, the output of which isn’t yet confirmed.

It’ll ride on 19- or 21-inch alloys, get air suspension, an 8295 cockpit chip, and an NVIDIA Thor-U chip and lidar unit above the windscreen as part of Geely’s H5 ADAS system.

EV-only range is expected to be as much as 192km.

Geely Starship M9

Geely’s Starship M9, revealed recently only in image form, was also included in the MIIT filings with a few extra details about the car revealed that we’ve not yet heard much about.

As expected, it will be a plug-in hybrid, but so far we only know that it will get a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine under the hood. We’re expecting it’ll get dual motors as well, but the filings don’t give this information.

We do know it will be a very large SUV riding on Geely’s new GEA architecture, with a length of 5,205mm, a width of 1,999mm, a height of 1,800mm, and a wheelbase of 3,030mm, good enough for three rows of two-seats for six seats in total.

Wheels will come in 20- and 21-inch variants, and the M9 will get a lidar unit above the windscreen as part of Geely’s H5 ADAS platform, suggesting at least an NVIDIA Orin-X chip if not a Thor-U chip to power it.

Curiously, the M9 comes in three options with weight differences of 350kg from the lightest to the heaviest, suggesting there may also be a triple-motor version like the Lynk & Co 900, and a large battery up to around 50kWh also like the 900, likely with air suspension as well.

Livan Smurf

Geely’s affordable Livan brand looks set to be expanding with a rebadged, lightly modified version of the Geely Panda Mini, dubbed the “Smurf” being added.

Getting a distinctive blue and white appearance like the Belgian cartoon characters, the Smurf retains all the same statistics as the standard Panda Mini, with a 30kW motor on the rear axle and a 17kWh battery offering just over 200km of range.

It’s a dinky thing at 3,100mm long, 1,558mm wide, 1,610mm tall, and a wheelbase of 2,015mm.

As such, it’ll likely get the Panda Mini’s 22kW DC fast charging as well, something rivals like the Wuling Hongguang can’t offer.

Wheels are 14-inches in size, and look very much like steel wheels with trims applied, and there are slightly chunkier wheel arches to give the car a bit of extra width.

There’s no panoramic roof, suggesting the Smurf will likely come in a bit cheaper than the Panda Mini and be a bit more basic in nature.

Whether it will have enough interest to boost Livan sales is another question.

Arcfox S3

The MIIT filings uncovered an all-new model from Arcfox, a new mid-size electric saloon to sit under the Alpha S5.

It’s a sharp-looking design with a low, aerodynamic nose, full-width lightbars front and rear, a chiselled lower sill along the side, and a panoramic roof.

At 4,840mm long, 1,900mm wide, 1,480mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 2,875mm, it’s similar in size to the BYD Seal.

The filings suggest it’ll only come with one option, a single motor variant with 150kW of power, likely on the rear axle.

Two different kerb weights of 1,630kg and 1,700kg suggest two battery sizes, though no information has been given on those or any ranges.

We do know it will get 17- and 18-inch wheel choices, a more dynamic five-spoke design, and a more bland aero wheel with a nearly completely flat face in an all-black colour.

Jetour Zongheng G700

Finally, Jetour’s new large SUV has surfaced, very much looking like a slightly more aggressive Fangchengbao Bao 5.

And quite a beast it is, at 5,198mm long, 2,050mm wide, 1,956mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 2,870mm.

A plug-in hybrid, the G700 gets Chery’s CDM-O platform, which gets a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 155kW of power, as well as electric motors the details of which haven’t been revealed yet.

Bear in mind, the G700 was shown by Chery to be an amphibious vehicle, shown crossing the Yangtze River, so it should feature quite a comprehensive drivetrain with at least two if not more motors.

It will come in five- and six-seat variants, suggesting two or three rows inside, and gets 18- or 20-inch wheels, as well as a large variety of trimmings such as side steps, bumpers and skid plates.

Those different trimmings give different approach and departure angles, with 30-degrees at the front as standard, and between 13- and 25-degrees at the rear, possibly dependent also on suspension settings, the G700 expected to get an adjustable hydraulic suspension system similar to DiSus-P.

Weight is also variable, between 3,063kg and 3,180kg, so it’s a heavy car and likely comes with different numbers of motors and battery sizes.
