Refreshed IM LS7 Debuts With Lizard Digital Chassis

Upgraded LS7 features four-wheel steering, aircraft-grade glass, and next-gen driving aids, starting from RMB 329,900.

The refreshed IM LS7 SUV has been launched with the updated model now featuring IM’s Lizard Digital Chassis as well as improved cabin refinement and flexibility.

Arriving with a starting price of RMB 329,900 (£34,150 / $45,900), IM’s current flagship is tasked with helping turn around the company’s sales figures which have struggled to make an impact in China in recent months.

The update brings significant improvements designed at helping the LS7 maintain pace with the premium segment leaders and better demonstrate a luxury aesthetic, such as all-round double-glazing for a quieter cabin, air suspension, a zero-gravity passenger seat, and more.

It also becomes the fourth model in the IM range to get intelligent four-wheel steering, making IM the only manufacturer in the world to offer this feature on every one of its cars.

One of the main selling points of the refreshed LS7 is the “Star Fall Ice-Sensing Dome” windshield, which uses aerospace-grade glass to take impact resistance up to four times the national standard.

With a coverage of more than 2m2, the windshield goes all the way up above the front passenger seats, giving a full 180-degree lateral view, and 106-degree vertical view, while also featuring a three-layer silver plating process to prevent as much as 99.99 percent of UV rays from entering the cabin.

In addition, the LS7 also gets a more luxurious interior, the front passenger benefitting from a queen’s seat complete with legrest and zero-gravity function for maximum comfort.

All passengers benefit from dual-glazed windows throughout the cabin, 11 in total, as well as active road noise cancellation that works like noise cancelling earphones to make for a more refined ride.

Satisfying customer demand for flexible cabins, the LS7 also gets rear seats that fold flat, opening up space for a king-size bed area, or if required, all seats can be folded flat to make a completely open interior so children and adults can play in the car.

IM claims an impressive 90.4 percent occupancy rate for the LS7, which means rear passengers gets 1,045mm of headroom, 1,028mm of legroom, and 187mm of knee room, while all seats get heating, ventilation, and massaging functions as standard.

As well as the Lizard Digital Chassis, which enables 6-degrees of rear-wheel steering for a 5.3m turning radius, the LS7 also gets a handful of brand name components, such as air suspension from Continental, disc brakes from Brembo, and “German” four-pot brake calipers and brake-by-wire system.

Like other IMs, the LS7 features ultra-long-range LiDAR, NVIDIA Orin-X processors, and Momenta’s autonomous driving software to give full autonomous driving coverage across China, including rural roads, without requiring maps.

The infotainment runs on the latest Snapdragon 8295 chip, and features Rainy Night Mode 2.0, which uses augmented reality to project the vehicle’s blind spots onto the driver’s display in poor conditions.

The LS7 boasts an 800-volt platform with 875-volt charging, good for a peak charging rate of 396kW, and adding 500km of range in just 15 minutes to the 100kWh battery, for a total range of 700km on the CLTC cycle.

Dual motors, one on the front, one on the rear, produce 200kW and 300Nm of torque on the front axle, and 379kW and 500Nm of torque on the rear axle, good for a 3.9-second 0-100kph sprint
