General Motors celebrated its centennial in Brazil on January 26, 2025. It is the car manufacturer with the longest continuous operation in the country, while Chevrolet is one of the most beloved vehicle brands by Brazilians.
In 2024, GM announced the first phase of its new investment cycle for its operations in Brazil.
The total amount, which amounts to R$ 7 billion, will be invested between 2024 and 2028, with a focus on sustainable mobility. This investment includes a complete renewal of the vehicle portfolio, which seeks to diversify its business areas and launch 10 electrified models in the coming years.

Also in 2025, the company will introduce five new products to the market, including new models with different technologies.
One of these new vehicles made a surprise appearance during the event. A compact electric SUV briefly paraded on stage and caught everyone’s attention.
It was the Chevrolet Spark EUV, a model that General Motors Brazil has just confirmed as the first vehicle in this new phase of the brand and which aims to expand its line of electric cars in the country, being Chevrolet’s most affordable option in the segment.
Baojun Yep with tie symbol

With the confirmation of the arrival of the compact SUV Spark EUV in Brazil, GM is beginning to outline its market positioning in a more competitive way, especially in view of the rapid growth of Chinese brands such as BYD and GWM.
To this end, it is taking advantage of the partnerships it has in China, and has found a way by searching the catalogue of Baojun, a brand of SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), for the model suitable for this task. The choice fell on the Baojun Yep Plus, on sale in China since April 2024.
The Spark EUV is a compact urban SUV will be offered exclusively in the region in a more complete configuration, called Activ, in a specific combination to meet the new preferences of the local market. The model measures 3,996mm long, 1,760mm wide, and 1,726 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm. Gross weight is 1,325 kg.
The mechanical set was not specified, but it should be the same as that used in China. There, it uses an electric motor, positioned on the rear axle, with 102hp of power and 180Nm of torque. The range is 400km on the CLTC cycle, generated by 41.9kWh lithium-ion batteries. The maximum speed is 150kph.
Small technological

Inside, the Spark EUV surprises with its technological package. The model follows the standard instrument layout of current Chinese electric vehicles, that is with an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel and 10.1-inch central information and entertainment system. The three-spoke multifunction steering wheel is covered in leather, with the Chevrolet tie symbol in the centre.
In China, the compact SUV features the Lingmou 2.0 Max advanced driving assistance system, equipped with an exclusive suite of driving assistance features based on end-to-end visual modeling, including:
- Navigation-on-pilot (NOP) for up to 10 urban routes
- NOP on highways across China with active lane change and ramp recognition
- Lane centering control from 0-130 km/h
- Automated parking assist
- Autonomous emergency braking
- Front and rear collision warning
- Lane departure warning
- Blind spot detection
- 540-degree panoramic view
The Lingmou 2.0 Max system is jointly developed by SAIC-GM-Wuling and Zhouyu Technology
General Motors do Brasil has not yet released details on whether this intelligent driving system will be part of the equipment package offered on the Spark EUV.
