New saloon will be sold with EREV and EV variants and sit under the L07 saloon in Deepal’s line-up.

Deepal has released a set of official images of the new L06 saloon following the model’s premature unveiling in August’s MIIT filings.
The new saloon, which will sit under the L07/SL03 saloon, will be offered with both EREV and EV drivetrains, with up to 180km of electric-only range on the WLTC cycle.
It becomes the third saloon in Deepal’s line-up following the SL03 and the similar but more comfort-oriented L07, and their seventh overall, with potential international sales lined-up too.
Following on from the EZ-6, which was based on the SL03, the L06 could potentially spawn a new Mazda variant in the coming months to take on the slightly smaller Tesla Model 3.

The L06 looks set to debut a new design language for Deepal with more exaggerated trident elements at the front where a split headlamp arrangement features two vertical and one horizontal daytime running light on each side.
The design gives the L06 a more aggressive face than that on the SL03 and L07, with the “tri” design further emphasised by tiny triangular light elements in the upper and lower lighting units.
Other notable features include what appears to be an active grille in the lower portion of the bumper, and a lidar unit atop the windscreen for some level of autonomous driving support.
We know from the MIIT filings that the L06 will get the option or 18- or 19-inch alloys, while the images suggest brightly coloured brake calipers might also be a possibility.

At the rear, the L06 again gets sharper, far more aggressive styling than that seen on previous Deepals, with a pointed daytime running light featuring triangular details running the width of the car, as well as several sharp downward angles pointed towards the wheels.
The lowest of these forms part of a decorative diffuser element which is black in colour and framed in silver or black to give an almost touring car feel to the rear bumper.
The L06 forgoes the recent trend towards hatchback tailgates with a standard saloon structure, but it does also come with a sizeable active spoiler that presumably can be raised automatically or via the main system.
Altogether it’s an edgy design, one that breaks from Deepal’s recent friendlier face and ventures into the sporty and aggressive.

Like the SL03 and L07, the L06 will come with the option of extended range EV (EREV) or EV drivetrains, and we know for certain that the EV will get a 200kW motor on the rear axle, which confusingly would make it more powerful than both its sister models which sport 190kW motors.
That EREV variant will get a 28.39kWh LFP battery, good for up to 180km on electric-only range on the WLTC cycle, and fuel consumption of just 4.38-litres per 100km.
Measuring in at 4,830mm long, 1,905mm wide, 1,480mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 2,900mm, the L06 is just 5.5cm shorter than the L07, but shares the same 2,900mm wheelbase and 1,480mm height, which could suggest it’s intended as a replacement for the SL03 whose name is now out of sync with the rest of the line-up.
Prices could start from around RMB 120,000 (£12,400 / $16,700), marginally less than the base level SL03 comes in at now, particularly if the SL03 is to be replaced by this car, and we can expect a launch at either this month’s Chengdu Auto Show or the Munich Auto Show in September.

Looks great but also very similar to Polestar’s “Hammer of Thor” headlights.
