XPeng reveals pre-sale prices of 2025 X9 MPV ahead of June 15 launch

Updated model retails higher than previous edition but boasts 496 updated components.

XPeng has unveiled pre-sale prices and images of its updated for 2025 X9 electric MPV ahead of the official launch on May 15.

In an unusual move, given the X9’s current price advantage over rivals like the Zeekr 009 and Li MEGA, XPeng has raised prices by RMB 40,000 without any obvious major changes other than the removal of lidar.

The X9, at least in pre-sale prices, will now start at RMB 399,800 rather than the 359,800 previously, though this may be due to a more streamlined offering or greater standard spec and prices will likely be trimmed at the official launch in a now well work marketing practice.

The original model already featured dual-chamber air suspension, rear-wheel steering, third-row seats that folded into the floor, and interior features like a 17.3-i ch front screen and 21.4-inch second-row screen utilising the Snapdragon 8295 processor, as well as a 23-speaker surround sound system, and a fridge/heated unit in the back, so what can we expect from the 2025 upgrades?

The previous X9 featured twin lidar units on higher spec variants, enabling XNGP, XPeng’s full-scenario autonomous driving system. Since the launch of the P7+, XPeng has been removing lidar units from its cars in place of the Hawkeye vision-based system that uses lofic cameras and millimetre wave radar to provide the same service.

The 2025 X9 will get the same treatment, though the styling looks set to remain the same by all accounts, except for new colour and wheel options including eye-catching blue and purple choices.

Inside, the most obvious change is the introduction of an aisle between the second-row seats. Previously, passengers had to wait for the second-row seats to move forwards to gain access to the third-row. It’s unknown if this change has impacted the seat width.

Both second-row seats could be optioned with zero-gravity functionality and 18-way adjustment, so these are likely now a standard feature on all variants.

Heating, ventilation, and 10-point massage was standard, and this will remain, while the industry’s first hot stone shiatsu massage functionality has also been touted.

In addition, the seats look set to get the built-in 50W wireless chargers as standard, rather than optional, and a 220-volt socket has been added, potentially opening up console gaming on the rear screen like that on the Li Auto models. It might gain an extra 8295 chip for the rear screen too.

Third-row seats came with 180-degree electrically operated backrest adjustment and USB-C sockets for the outer seats, and these will now gain heating functionality as well.

Powertrain options will remain the same, either a front-mounted single motor producing 235kW, or a dual-motor variant adding a 135kW motor on the rear axle for 370kW in total.

Range and charging might also get a boost. The previous X9 could achieve 3C charging with 330kW peak power, and a maximum range of 702km on the CLTC cycle.

This could get pushed up to 4C and something closer to 440kW peak charging power, bringing it closer to the 5C on both the Li MEGA and Zeekr 009, improved range has already been revealed, up to 740km.

The official launch of the 2025 X9 will take place in Hong Kong on May 15 and Inside China Auto will be there to bring you all the latest information plus content from the brand’s Tech Day event.
