Three-row fully electric SUV is brand’s fourth model and looks set to rival Li L9 and AITO M9.
GAC’s Hyptec brand has released official images of the HL three-row electric SUV ahead of its public debut at this week’s Guangzhou Auto Show.
A full-size SUV, the HL measures 5,126mm long, roughly mid-way between the Li L8 and L9 models, and has a sizeable wheelbase of 3,088mm.
Although no official interior images have been shown, spy shots have revealed it will likely be a six- or seven-seater SUV with two individual seats in the second row and either a two- or three-seater bench in the third row.
As is increasingly common with Chinese brands, Hyptec’s GT and HT models come with both 400- and 800-volt platforms, with single motor versions using the former and dual-motor versions the latter, so we’d expect something similar with the HL.
800-volt also models come with 3C fast charging, enabling charging of over 400km in 15 minutes, so unless Hyptec launches an upgraded platform the HL will likely receive similar statistics.
Interestingly for Hyptec, both the GT and HT models are shown as being battery swap-capable though only the HT 400-volt version specifications enable it, so the HL will likely have battery swap capability of some form even if AION’s swap network is not particularly large.
Looking at the images, we can see that the HL features a fairly rounded, quite simple design with split headlamps and Lynk & Co-esque daytime running lights running through the upper and lower casings, with the triple-line graphic also replicated in the tail lamps.
The front face has an integrated pixel panel between the lower lamp units similar to that on the Geely Galaxy E8, and these early images show images and text can be displayed with these LEDS.
This likely flagship edition sports large 21-inch multi-spoke alloys shod with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, and we’d expect maybe 19- or 20-inch options for entry-level versions, as well as potentially air suspension.
The lidar unit atop the windscreen suggests top-edition models will be equipped with the AI-powered ADIGO 6.0 driving assistance system with urban autonomous features.
Hyptec was launched in 2023, originally as Hyper but recently rebranded ahead of expected international sales to reference the words hyper and technology.
Part of the GAC Group, though more closely related to sub-brand AION with which it shares a logo, Hyptec makes the GT saloon, HT coupe SUV, and the SSR hypercar.
Sales numbers haven’t been reported for some time and anecdotal evidence suggests they’re only really gaining traction in their home city of Guangzhou and nearby Shenzhen, so the brand will be hoping that the popular large SUV market might respond kindly to the new model.
