Reported sales figures from ‘Golden Week’, the one week national holiday in China that kicks off October each year, suggest October will be yet another record month for NEVs in China.
A number of brands that chose to announce their order numbers for the week are reporting as much as two-thirds of their entire September delivery results in just seven days.
One such example is Leapmotor, on something of a roll currently with record September deliveries of 33,767, who claim to have locked in 17,397 orders over Golden Week, more than half the previous month’s delivery number.
Deepal, one of Changan’s new energy brands, delivered a record 22,709 cars in September, and secured 14,465 concrete orders over Golden Week, pretty much two-thirds of the delivery number for the month prior.
The Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance, widely recognised as Huawei cars, consisting of AITO, Luxeed, and the newly-launched Stelato, claim to have taken more than 28,600 orders over the national holiday, a full 71% of their 39,931 deliveries in September.
This number was boosted by 9,600 orders of the Tesla Model Y rivalling Luxeed R7, which looks to have made a positive start to sales.
Arcfox, a fully-electric subsidiary of BAIC, claim to have taken 5,252 orders, roughly half of the 10,880 deliveries made in September, in what looks to be a boost to their struggling numbers. They’ll be hoping to replicate weekly numbers like those for the rest of the year.
Zeekr, one of few brands we think might still hit their sales target for 2024, didn’t release order numbers for the brand but have confirmed the Zeekr 7X SUV, which we reviewed here, has taken more than 20,000 orders since launch with the car expected to add around 10,000 units to their monthly delivery results, which would take them over 30,000 for the first time in October.
Xiaomi’s SU7 continues to draw buyers into their electronics stores with more than 6,000 orders taken over the holiday, with CEO Lei Jun promising to deliver around 20,000 units in October for the first time, nudging them closer to their 2024 delivery target of 100,000 which they expect to hit in November.
Reports have also emerged that XPeng may have taken as many as 16,000 orders over Golden Week with the MONA M03 continuing to have a huge positive effect on their numbers. With record deliveries of 21,352 units in September, there’s a good chance they may shatter that figure by almost three-times the amount in October.
